Brand Identity – the one thing you have to get right!

Tuesday 24th May 2022, 6:00pm - 8:00pm 29-31 Coney Street

Description

How do you brand a ghost, or one of York’s oldest streets, or the Mother of Parliaments? Doing just that is all in a day’s work for three of York’s, and the region’s, leading design agencies; Ideas Group, United by Design, and Lazenby Brown. Brand identity is not just a logo, typestyle or colour scheme, it should be at the heart of any organisation, product or place. But how does the designer inspire and engage people’s hearts and minds? And change what they think, feel and most importantly, do?

This area of design is one of the UK’s economic success stories. We will ask whether, despite branding apparently being everywhere, the designing of brands is in need of a massive reboot. Is it actually creative? And if everything, from a ghost to a city, can become a brand, can we identify anything that amounts to a method, or a philosophy, that works?

The people behind these three agencies – all Guild supporters from the word go! – will be in conversation about what they have learned from their work, how they set about working with York Ghost Merchants, Streetlife, and the Palace of Westminster, and what they think about the identity of our city.

And after all that thinking, we will have time to catch up and network!

Join Guild members, StreetLife fans, current students and design professionals for what we know will be a sociable and inspiring evening.
