Description

What lies behind, or goes before, a finished print? 'First Impressions' is an innovative exhibition that explores the process of relief printing. Featuring everything from ink and paper (as you've never seen them before!) to items created from printers' waste and accidents of the printing process, the exhibition brings the work of making to the fore. It uncovers the hidden histories of the printing process, and asks us to think again about how we value a work of art or craft.

The exhibition is on display in the heart of York, one of the UK's most ancient homes of printing, and is accompanied by an exploration of York's print heritage.
