Improvising workshop with saxophonist Rachel Musson & a live performance with friends

Description

London-based improviser Rachel Musson composes and performs on saxophones for a variety of music projects. She recently released two albums on 557 Records, namely Dreamsing (2021) and I Went This Way (2020). Among others, she regularly works with Mark Sanders, Pat Thomas, Hannah Marshall, Julie Kjaer, Corey Mwamba, Olie Brice, Alex Ward, and Alex Hawkins.

In the workshop, Rachel Musson will play with music students and members of the community who have an interest in improvisation. An intermediate to advanced level of music performance (Grade 6 / or equivalent or above) is required to participate. All instruments are welcome.

After a short break, the workshop will be followed by a live set at 8pm to demonstrate improvisation processes, with Rachel Musson (saxophones), University of York composer scholar Dr Federico Reuben (electronics), PhD candidate Gaia Blandina (cello) and MA in Music Production student Alex Mackay (electric guitar).
