A new Virtual Reality Experience featuring singer & researcher Vivien Ellis as she performs a selection of street cries from old York. Street cries were a traditional way of publicising sales, services and public events.
Using 360 video and interactive technology viewers are invited to visit a variety of York locations, using a VR headset. At each location Vivien performs a traditional Street Cry.
There is also a short interview with Vivien (a full length interview will be made available shortly) explaining the history of street cries and how she went about bringing these historic pieces back to life.
This is an original work commissioned by the Street Life Project, created by York-based VR company VIDAVEO, with the assistance of Digital Creativity Labs at the University of York.
