Introduction to Linocut Workshop

Saturday 12th November 2022, 12:00pm - 5:00pm 29-31 Coney Street
Introductory linocut workshop

Description

Learn how to carve and print your very own linocut using our antique Columbian printing press! Join printmaking artist Joanna Lisowiec to learn the basics of linocut printing. This session is suitable for beginners and no previous experience is required.

In this workshop you will learn how to transfer your design onto a block, demonstrate carving tips and techniques and show you how to make beautiful prints. You'll get to practice each stage and can choose to come up with your own design or select one from our samples.  For over 18s, beginners and non-artistic people welcome! Materials will be provided but we encourage you to bring your own tools if you wish. Pfeil or Flexcut gouges are great tools to invest in if you need some recommendations for tools that can handle detailed work.

Joanna Lisowiec is a freelance illustrator and designer living in Yorkshire, England.

As an illustrator and printmaker I’m known for a bold style of illustration with lots of texture, usually focused on the beauty of nature and narratives inspired by folklore.

I also do work as a hand-letterer and packaging designer. My designs are highly illustrative and inspired by vintage lettering and packaging but with modern elements like bright colours and vivid illustrations.
